New Days…

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008 | everyday, holidays, photography, school, something, trips | 2 Comments

The last few weeks have been wonderful. :) There’s something liberating in doing what you love for a change.

I’ve been drawing, sewing, thinking, reading, walking, loving… I made a pinhole camera out of a matchbox! Following these instructions, I think it actually turned out pretty well. Judging from the one or two pictures that kinda have potential of being decent…

I just got the film developed, not the pictures, everything’s over exposed, but it besides that, it seems to be working. My darling and I went to Fotoantika a few weeks ago and got an old light meter, hopefully it only needs new batteries and the exposure problem will be gone. Banished! (Banned?)

Also, on a similar note, we went to Foto Ex Tempore in Kras. It was really fun, I’d show off with a picture or two, but I was analogue for the day. (I prefer film for some reason.) I did miss a display thingie though, the rotate-able kind, so I can take pictures at weird angles. Also, to see if I actually got any right. Motion blur loves me, I’m told. Keep your fingers crossed!

Updates…

I didn’t have much time, up to a few days ago, to write a decent blog post. However, when I got the time, Mr. Computer died on me. It made me reconsider the wisdom in naming it 42. It was an attempt to break the pattern of the last 4 (I think it was 4) Marvins dying after something around a year… You know, the answer to life, the universe and everything ought to be eternal… Guess not. And it died when I was close to finishing my contribution to the ongoing blog meme, draw yourself as a teenager.

I drew myself as a 16 y/o, as I am still a teenager, for a few more months anyway. Despite the lack of vectors in Photoshop (which just makes everything so… pixel looking -.-) I did a pretty good job. Honest! I’ll post eventually.

On another note, I cut my hair. Got the cutest and nicest comparison too, I was told I look like Dust Puppy. *hearts* It’s a character in the UserFriendly.org comics, I love the little guy. The hair now points in every direction at a 90 degree angle from my head. Not much I can do about it, going from mid chest to 2cm is quite a jump, I’m guessing they want to know what it’s like to point up for a change. I like it though. :) Like I said, Dust Puppy. :)

Cappuccino Psychology…

Probably the most common thing I order in a bar is a cappuccino. I love the foamed milk that you get on top. :) In one of my favourite bars you can even order coffee with lots of foam and Milči brings you a cappuccino in a regular cup, full of foam. Hihi… Usually, I just eat the foam off with a spoon, that’s how it’s supposed to be done, if you ask me. :p

But I noticed that when I’m having a bad day, I mix the foam with the coffee. It makes me feel better. Associations

I discovered something really horrible today. It’s right up there in my top five with nuclear warfare, a bacteria that’d create zombies, power outage and running out of chocolate. I found a gray hair. On MY head! I haven’t even gotten to terms with growing up, much less getting gray hair.

Nature’s payback, I guess.

Happy birthday, honey. =*

Love And All That Jazz…

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008 | everyday, philosophy, something | 1 Comment
I have a question, again. If any of you watch Battlestar Galactica then you will know that when a Cylon dies, it’s consciousness is uploaded to a new body. Now, imagine that in the future (a sci-fi future, if you will, but never the less) you could do the same, have your consciousness uploaded to an android body, thus making yourself immortal. Or if you could modify your body with artificial non-organic substances to prevent it from getting old or malfunctioning. (A weird word to use for your body, I know.)

If love, and any other feeling, is a chemical process in your body, what happens if you really do transfer your mind to a machine vessel? What does that make of love?

Playing Tag…

Sunday, April 6th, 2008 | everyday, something | No Comments
Well, here it is, after many complaints. The new look. I’m not quite happy with the fonts, but it will have to do. I suck with colour schemes.

Anyway, I got tagged by Ling:

=====

1. If your lover betrayed you, what will your reaction be?
Loss of trust, I’m guessing. Throw a tantrum.

2.What will you do if you do not share the same feelings as the person who likes you?
Explain that I don’t share the same feelings… What else is there to do?

3. What will your dream wedding be like?
Uhm… The first three times somebody asked me that, “I never thought about it.” was a perfectly valid answer, now it seems kinda silly, after so many opportunities to think about it, I mean. I still haven’t though. Sorry. Are you sure marriage is what you want it to be anyway? With the divorce rate and everything…

4. Are you confused as to what lies ahead of you?
Curious… Not that confused.

5. What’s your ideal lover like?
Something between Willie Wonka, JRR Tolkien, Douglas Adams, Neo, Hansi Kursch and Peter Petrelli. :p My honey comes pretty close though. :)

6. Which is more blessed, loving someone or being loved by someone else?
… Neither, if it’s not mutual, really.

7. If the person you like does not accept you, would you continue to wait for them to change their feelings?
No, I’d try to get over it… I’m not really fond of the whole Petrarca, I-can’t-have-you-but-I-will-love-you-forever-O-glorious-perfection kind of thing.

8. If the person you secretly like is already attached, what would you do?
Get over it. D0ch? :S

9. Is there anything that has made you unhappy recently?
Yes.

10. What do you want most in life?
To figure out what I want.

11. Is being tagged fun?
Well, I was bored, so… :)

12. If you find out that your best friend is going out with your boyfriend/girlfriend, how would you react?
Well, I have good friends, so… not really.

13. Who is currently the most important person to you?
This is kinda like the top 8 on myspace, isn’t it?

14. What kind of person do you think I am?
Intelligent, interesting, amusing, cool to talk to. :)

15. What is the most unforgettable thing/event in your life?
Well… Lots of things. First Blind Guardian concert, first kiss, first real kiss, friends doing stupidly amusing things, that night when there were soooooo many stars, first time reading a Donne poem, first time seeing Monty Python, first time reading HG2G…

16. If the person you secretly like cannot recognise you, what would you do/how would you react?
I’m not really sure what the question’s asking.

17. Would you give your all in a relationship?
Well, if you don’t, what’s the point? Then it’s just a pass time.

18. If you fall in love with two persons simultaneously, who would you pick?
How can you be in love with two people at the same time?

19. What type of friends do you like?
Mine. :) You don’t get them any better than that.

20.If you played a prank on someone, and he/she fell for the trick, what would you do?
Laugh? :) April fools ftw.

Big Sisters Know Better…

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008 | everyday, rants, something | No Comments

Scenario: We were having a family lunch a few days ago… 20+ people, Grandma’s 80′th Birthday celebration. My sister wasn’t hungry, I’m guessing cause she’s not usually up that early during the weekends, it was 12 in the afternoon.

Me: Want some potatoes?
Sis: No, I’m not hungry.
Me: Put something on your plate anyway.
Sis: I’m not hungry.
Me: Yeah, ok, just put it on your plate, trust me.
Mom: If you don’t, everybody’s gonna bug you why you’re not eating.
Sis: No thanks.
Me: Suit yourself.

[3 minutes later]

Sis: Pass me the potatoes, please.
Me: Told you.
Sis: Yeah, yeah.
Me: Take a small steak too.
Sis: I don’t feel like eating meat.
Me: You don’t have to eat it, just take it…
Sis: Nah.
Me: Ok…

[2 minutes later she takes a steak. I lol.]
Me: Cut it a bit.
Sis: I’m not hungry.
Me: *raised eyebrow* Do we really have to do this again?
Sis: *sis cuts steak* You were right the last two times, I guess you know what you’re talking about.
[Sweet music to my ears. :p]

Things…

I remember a line from Sylvia Plath’s Glass Bell Jar. She wrote something like: “There must be quite a few things a hot bath won’t cure, but I don’t know many of them.” A hot bubble bath is a bit like a good night’s sleep, things don’t look quite as bad as they did before.

Some sentences just stay with you.

Trained, I See Imperfection In Your Race…

Just a short question… What’s the point of making a side-project that sounds exactly the same as your original band?

Tagtgren’s side project makes sense, Luca Turilli’s doesn’t.

Neither does Warrel Dane’s. I love the new song, Messenger, but listen to the other three, if you’re not familiar with Nevermore, and tell me how it differs from those. Also, from some reason it reminds me of Sentient 6.

Cool voice though.
